Ramakrishna Beach is located on the east coast at a distance of about 5 km from the Vishakhapattanam city. Ramakrishna presents the tourists a mind-blowing scenic view of the nature, especially that of the reddish setting sun.
The R.K.Beach as it is called was jointly developed by the Municipal Corporation of Visakhapatnam (MCV) and the VUDA. Submarine museum, Visakha museum, Sri Ramakrishna mission ashram, aquarium, VUDA park Kali Temple are all located near the Ramakrishna Beach. Statues of prominent personalities, road side restaurants and parks are the added attractions. The war memorial called "Victory at Sea" located at the shore of the beach dedicated as a homage to soldiers of the 1971 war is worth visiting. The sea here has abrupt depths and the waves pound the shore with a thunderous force. Swimming here is dangerous as many innocent lives are lost in this beach. There are not many warning sign boards around and the life guards are few and far between. Amongst the Top 30 Beaches, R K Beach is very famous and just walking distance from the Lord Swami Vivekanand Ashram, named Sri Rama Krishna Ashram.
The untreated city drain water is let out into the sea thus acting as a dampener. There is a tremendous rush on Sunday evenings as the locals flock to this area for a breath of fresh air. In spite of all the problems, the place is still a favorite haunt for the tourists and especially for the morning walkers who can walk on the foot paths.
