Methodology of Survey
The Methodology for undertaking the survey was based on predefined set of parameters with varied factors. The parameters mainly represented from a tourism perspective but also had a visible presence of important factors like environment, law and order, beach fauna et al.
A dedicated team of researchers from a premium B school was entrusted with the job of surveying. Around 1000 people were surveyed and the results were sampled and filtered to deduce the final outcome. The parameters were divided into two distinct groups positive and negatives and marks assigned. Obviously positive parameters had plus points whereas negative ones earned minus points. For example India Beach sports is a positive parameter while Beachfront Urbanization is deemed as negative. Again crime incidents earne negative points while safety scored on positves.
Some parameters like sacredness in terms of presence of religious spots in the beach and visitor demographics were taken only for a better understanding of the Top Beaches and no points were assigned to them. Besides interviewing the team referred heavily to the internet, books, periodicals, researchers, Tourism offices of the particular state to arriver at the parameters.
